Welcome!

I’ve been documenting my creative endeavors since 2014. Thoughts on the creative process, my travels, shows, new ideas and what’s on my easel are just a few things I post on. Feel free to linger…

Kiawah Waterway (Day two)

Here's where I stopped today.  Below is a recap of today's progress.

Good afternoon!  Hot but productive day today (when the heck is fall gonna get here?)!

Below are some timeline photos of progress made on the Kiawah Waterway piece.  I can't wait to show the four gals I took this photo with!  One of them is a big stinker and I wouldn't be surprised if she takes it off my wall and sneaks out the door when I'm not looking.  Yes, Peach- I'm referring to you!

Sometime when I've had a few glasses of wine, I'll tell you how that nickname came to pass....but not today, and certainly not in front of the kiddos.  Peach may as well be a dude...and not a shy one.  That trip to Kiawah was some trip!

At this point, I'm in the process of adding warm and cool colors to further define the cloud formations and the land mass. The greens are just a little too green, and the clouds are sloppy, but this is just the foundation getting laid down so that the end result has depth, a layered, varied landscape that is not too perfect or uniform.

I'm liking this piece so far, and since you asked, I listened to The Essential Dixie Chicks today while painting.  "Sin Wagon" really helps me loosen up!  It's pretty funny how breakup songs are the most amusing...

I'll have more for you tomorrow.  Sorry for the delay, but I was eating Lobsta in Maine last week and hiking in Acadia.  Sounds terrible, right?

I did bring back lots of photos that I hope to paint for you in the future...here's one of my favorites:
