Welcome!

I’ve been documenting my creative endeavors since 2014. Thoughts on the creative process, my travels, shows, new ideas and what’s on my easel are just a few things I post on. Feel free to linger…

New Great Lakes Inspired 24x24….and

….a fun little project for our front door as well as watercolor speed sketches and a completed watercolor from Thursday’s paint out with Plein Air Painters Of Northwest Michigan.

Boy, did I ever have a wonderful, productive week! I had some great time with family and friends (hello, breakfast bunch!) and got some fantastically creative few days under my belt.

I worked more on my new piece then some speed sketches with watercolor in order to focus more on scenery in front of me when I paint outside. I’m really happy with the freshwater marshes that I was able to capture as well as a realistic/representational watercolor of an East Bay beach in Yuba, about 40 minutes from our home. The three free/loose sketches are $49 each and the detailed final watercolor (photo three above)) is $149.

Lastly, I got a whole Saturday (today) off! Praise the Lord!!! It was very cold, rainy, and windy (39 mph) so my crew practice was cancelled today and I got to carve wood and make a new house number sign for our home instead! Woohoo!

We had our house painted last week and now for the fun part— adding little touches that are uniquely us. For the numbers sign, I traced a fallen leaf from a big maple out front and freehand sketched the numbers on a pine board after staining it black. I then used a new old chiseling set (thank you, eBay!) to take away the areas around my letters/leaf drawing.

I’ve posted a photo here and love the outcome given I’ve never used a chisel in my life before today. Let me know if you’d be interested in one for your home! $249 plus shipping. I’ll sign the back and squeeze in these fun little projects between paintings….

Thank you for stopping by today.
